Rest in peace my sweet Zoe, you will be so missed.

Success? Almost.

I wouldn't exactly call this complete success, but the fact that they are in the same picture..on the same ACRE of property is success enough for now. Who would've thought this would be so difficult. I'm thinking about just getting rid of the horse and keeping the goat. I mean, come on, he eats WEEDS! The horse has to have all of that fancy-scmancy feed and hay and stuff.

Is She Getting Closer?

The horse still hates the goat. I think she's gotten a little closer, but she still won't come near PJ, or me now. Crazy mare.

As if I Didn't Have too Many Animals Already...

I brought home a goat!

Meet PJ:

(Hi there! Why yes, yes I am standing on the front porch)

PJ is a 4 month old Nubian goat.

After I lost my mare Fun earlier this year, my other mare became the one and only pony. Horses are naturally herd animals, so Little Amber, as you can imagine, is a little bit lonely. Here where my bright idea to get her a goat comes in to play. I have had goats and horses as buddies before, so I stupidly thought that the new goat and the current horse would hit it off. I was wrong. This is as close as Miss Pissy Pants will get to harmless little PJ.

(Holy shit! That thing is going to eat me, isn't it?!)

The last pet goat I had was a pygmy, and she was an independent little booger. She spent her days in the pasture, happy, on her own or with the horses, she really didn't care. Abby was just happy to be alive and have weeds to eat. I wish I could say the same for PJ. Nope, he FREAKS if you get out of his sight. I tried putting him in the run in front of the barn but he escaped. So, like all good rednecks, I spent the evening on the back porch by the pool, with my goat faithfully laying at my feet.

(Where's Jethro?)

I have a picture of him in the house but I think this post is redneck enough without it, don't you?

I'm hoping that if I'm patient, and diligent I can get Mr. PJ and Miss Pissy Pants to happily coexist...away from the porch I hope.

Oh yeah, and a quick little note: I'm going to be an aunt again! Congratulations to Baker and Jo! Who would've thought. Just when I"d given up on them they go and surprise me! The new little Pulliam should make it's entrance into the world sometime in April. I hope it's a girl!

By Request

OK, by request...here are my critters with names listed.

Here is neurotic Zoe, she was my 23rd birthday gift. She was trained to be a therapy dog, but instead needs therapy herself. She is a Canine Good Citizen and typically smarter than most people I know.

Here's Gidget my Jack Russell Terrier and boss. I got Gidget in 2006 in Tunica, MS at a horse show.

This is Max. He is the result of going to the pound while being entirely too emotional. I got him on New Year's Eve in 2004. He is a poly dactyl, which means he has six toes. He's got thumbs and I'm not sure, but I think he knows how to use them.

Here's Butters. Butters made cat #3 for Jamie and me. He was a bottle baby. Jamie brought him home wearing welding gloves. He is high maintenance, loud, and the happiest of the bunch. He sleeps under the covers at night and will only drink from the kitchen sink.

Which brings us to "Butters' Mom", now known as "Margie". Margie is one lucky cat. Lucky, or she just knows a sucker when she sees one. She showed up at my doorstep on Christmas Eve carrying a calico kitten in her mouth. Did I mention she had another one AND was she was pregnant? Good times. Margie had six kittens a few months later, I only kept two!

Here's Elsie. She thinks she's a dog. She plays with Gidget and rides the golf cart.

This was the second calico kitten Margie brought to my house, this one showed up Christmas Day. Did I mention she was ferrel? Yep. Six months in my house and I couldn't touch her. It was interesting but she's finally came around. This is Scaredy, and the name fits.
Here's LB, aka "Beefy" (long story). LB was the last of the litter that was adopted out and he never found a home. And yes, he normally sleeps like this.
That's it, here's the crew sans horses. So now you guys can stop bugging me about how many animals I have and who's who!

They Say Owners Can Resemble Their Dogs...

But if you ever catch me doing THIS, please smack me in the head and cover me with a blanket.

Mohawk Monday

Grant has a new haircut. He has always wanted a real mohawk, not just a "faux-hawk". He let me spike it up with gel. I think it is hilarious. Gentry and I decided to give Gidget a similar do. Now if I can just figure out how to get Gentry's hair into a mohawk without her mother killing me!

No Sir, I distinctly recall ordering this item in BROWN!

Today started like a typical Saturday: sleep in, sit around in my jammies checking the latest gossip websites and horse show results, sorted a little laundry, nothing out of the ordinary. Well, that is, until I decided to give Zoe a haircut. I started clipping Zoe during the summer months a couple of years ago, it keeps her cooler, helps her scratch those itchy spots better and eliminates shedding indoors. Plus she LOVES the whole clipping process, I think it's the doggie equivalent of a two hour massage at the spa.

I have been trying to trim her about every three weeks but I skipped her during my last marathon doggie clipping session. (Giving Gidget a mohawk distracted me) In the mean time, her hair had time to completely grow in, and I had noticed a tan colored undercoat, (something she sports in the winter) but I didn't think much about it though, I just figured it was normal. I was WRONG! Look what happened after I clipped her!

This is an "after" photo from the last haircut. Nice and shiny, healthy looking, but most importantly, she is BROWN:

Look what I found underneath her shiny brown coat today:

These two photos are more true to color. The photo above doesn't show how WHITE she is now:

The Kitty Wants DOWN!

This is what happens when a city cat goes to the country! L.B. got himself stuck on the roof.

Kipper

This is my "foster dog" Kipper and he passed away today. He will be dearly missed by his foster family and his real family.

Looks like it's nap time.

The Grandcat is Being Spoiled

At my house the cats were not even allowed on the counters. Just look at what a few months with my dad has created!

One Dirty Dog!

Today Gidget topped her previous record of amount of poop a dog can coat herself with. Oh how Gidget loves her horse poop hair treatments. It took me three good scrubings to get it all off. What a stinker!

Camping Time!

Jamie and I decided to get away for a long weekend and head up to Bogg's Creek. We had a great time and the poochies had a blast. We snuck away (all the way to Buford) on Saturday night for a big event. I will post more about that later, it warrants a post of it's own. Jamie's mom and dad and his cousin's son Matthew tagged along. Jamie made his oh so good gravy every morning, and dinner was steaks cooked on the grill. I ate entirely too much and slept a lot. It was a good weekend. lol. Jamie got lots of fishing time, Gidget decided that the fish did NOT belong in the water, and Zoe thinks she is a lab and secretly wants to be a water dog. (she was so busy running in the creek I couldn't get a clear photo) Token peed on the floor of the motor home she was so scared when we left, and I had to give her a Xanax, which was entertaining in itself.
