October 12th, Grant turned 8! He is getting so tall it's unbelievable. I mean, obviously I knew he'd be taller than me, I guess I just didn't realize he would be taller than me before he got out of Elementary school. If he keeps growing like he has been, he'll be towering over me by the time he hits the 4th grade. Yes I'm aware I'm a shortie, no need to remind me. But anyway, back to the birthday party, it was hosted by Zoo to You. Grant picked the reptile theme. There were snakes, frogs, turtles, a kimono dragon, and a giant albino Burmese Python (my personal favorite). A big shout out to "Michael-ra" for the photos. I forgot my camera. Who else thinks the frog looks like a dog's squeaky toy?

SIDS Awareness Month
I know I try to keep my blog lighthearted, but I would like to talk about something very important to me. Most everyone nowadays knows that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, but what many people don't know is that Ocbober is also SIDS Awareness month. SIDS, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, kills more babies than cancer, heart disease, pneumonia, child abuse, AIDS, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy combined.
Although there is no ironclad medical explanation for SIDS, studies are being conducted to determine the cause, as well as learn how to prevent it. If you are a parent, plan to become one, or just have a little one in your life you care about, please consider donating at FirstCandle.org.
My family lost my twin sister, Ansley Catherine, to SIDS in October of 1980.
So please, educate yourself on SIDS, its warning signs, and possible causes. Here are a few helpful and informative links:
